Hung Chi Chang, originally from Taipei and now based in New York, is an artist whose practice centers around painting, exploring themes of memory, emotion, and transformation. He primarily works with acrylic and charcoal on paper or canvas and often creates short animations as extensions of his exhibitions, using a fluid narrative form to express what remains unsaid.

Beyond painting and animation, he enjoys experimenting with various materials to interpret his artistic concepts. In 2024–2025, he collaborated with Levi’s Taiwan on a project titled Bringing Denim Portraits to Life – Three Soul Fragments, in which he used vintage fabrics and textile structures to create three sets of wearable portrait masks. Through this work, he stitches together memories, stories, and the human body into fragments of the soul.

Hung Chi Chang also actively works in the international fashion scene under the name Jean Chang. With many years as a professional model, his experience moving within the fashion industry has sharpened his sensitivity to the textures of fabrics, the play of light and shadow, and the nuances of the human form. These bodily and visual experiences subtly nourish his artistic practice, transforming into a profound mastery of composition and presence.
